Some Hot Car Dancing

I have fallen in love with the Mighty Boosh and now lately I want to go out dancing. My current way of dancing is to Car Dancing. It's nice to know my boys, especially Noel Fielding (sexy bitch) from the Boosh like it to0!

Painful!!

I have gone through some things that I believed to be painful. I have also been told be more than one health professional that I have a high tolerance for pain. One kind of pain I hope I never have to endure is a burn (knock on wood).

The video of Michael Jackson accident in 1984 makes me cringe. I always believed that this incident started MJ's fall. Anyone that has had to deal with someone that is an addict know it usually isn't a quick thing, but a slow painful process and if they don't get help, then it ends the way he did, if that is how he ended.

Not Going to Cali (as if I thought I would)

I thought what the heck, I'll register for a chance to go to the Michael Jackson Memorial.

Yes I am a closet fan. I was always a fan and had the Thriller album. I thought he did some really stupid stuff, but no, I don't believe he molested anyone. Call me naive, but now that he is gone, I feel like I can admit the way I feel. (I know at least one person who is sighing if he's reading this.)
I have been very upset since he died because I see it as a part of my childhood and my life that died. I didn't realize how upset I would be, but now that it is looking like a "murder," I feel even more upset. I know I seem silly but I can't help the way I feel.

So I registered for the heck of it. I felt if it happens I wanted to be there. I received an email this morning from AEG (could it be) but it was a "so sorry, you didn't get a ticket." Just as well. Do I really think I would be able to fly to LA that last minute? Probably not.

So to everyone that is there, wish him well in the afterlife, if he believed in it(Jahovah Witnesses' don't believe in it until Armagedden). I hope if his kids are there they can see how much people loved their DAD and I hope that helps their recovery.

Joining Netflix Revolution

I finally joined NetFlix, mainly out of sheer frustration with Hastings. I watch Japanese Anime and sometimes I will miss an episode or two that make all the difference. My ability to see Japanese Anime is limited being in Wichita Falls and watching Adult Swim on Saturday Night.
I renewed my membership at Hastings so I could re-watch FullMetal Alchemist and try to fill in some gaps. I was doing fine and then I couldn't seem to get my hands on the 10th disk. I went back a few times to look and finally decided to ask the lady behind the counter about that disk.
She said they didn't have disk 10. Uh, OK. A 51 episode series and you don't have the dvd available for rent with 4 epidsodes. I thought I was being smart and suggested that they take one of the disks they have for sale in the Used DVD pile and complete the series. To my surprise, they don't do that. How freaking frustating!! I wasn't going to buy the whole series for four episodes.
So, I give in, NetFlix has it and we'll see how it goes. Supposedly I'll be able to see other Anime, so it should come in very handy. I must be one of the last people to finally give in, but it had to happen sometime.

My First Ikebana Project

In my efforts to relax my mind, one of the things that is supposed to help is Japanese Flower Arranging, called Ikebana.

My first attempt at it ended up ok, I think.

I just took some easter flowers from Wally World and gave it a whirl

Great Visit

I was lucky enough to be able to visit Larry and his boys Logan and Oliver this weekend. Logan was his usual precocious self and Oliver is getting to be a big boy and doing great. Logan is a bundle of energy and constantly wanting to talk (hmmm). Oliver is a pretty calm and happy kid unless he is hungry. I am so pleased at how well both the boys are doing, especially Oliver. Ollie rolled over for us three times, so who knows what he'll do next time I see him.

"You're Tearing me Apart Lisa"

I guess if I make to LA on a Saturday night. I'll have to see the worst movie ever made.
"The Room"
Adult Swim showed it and boy it stinks, but it would be great as a mystery science theatre also.

After my big rant yesterday, I had to find something a little light to put on my blog. So I put some rather intelligent babies talking. Aww.

Abuse of Perceived Power/A PIG

Ryan Moats has been robbed of a moment with his mother in law that he will never get back. His mother in law suffered breast cancer which is bad enough, but Ryan Moats drove his wife, her daughter from Houston to Plano, to say goodbye and they coded the poor woman TWICE hoping Ryan would be able to get in to say his goodbye but it was too late by the time he finally was able to get after this "Officer" let him get away. By the way, the red light he supposed ran, he stopped at it, it never changed so he went ahead, the light was broken, so the ticket was dropped.

Also racism, played a big part here. If some white people walked out of the car he would have let them go, but he assumed the worst. I give Moats credit for not identifying himself as an NFL player, but I would have done like his wife and said screw you, I'm going.

Also, why can't he let him go to the room and give the ticket to hospital personnel instead of wasting all that time?

Powell, Karma is a bitch.

I have always said, the cops have been there to give me a ticket but never there when I really needed them. I once thought I had an intruder in the house. I kept calling them back and asking if they were coming or not, because it seemed like forever.

Japanese Tea, Meditation, and Stillness

I realized by going through my old writings, that I HAVE to do what I want. Also, I haven't been still lately and that's what I'm going to work on. It doesn't take total quiet, it just takes, finding the moments in the day.

Am I bad luck?

Starting to get a little freaked. Bad luck seems to follow me around. It doesn't always hit me personally, but people I have seen, like Robin Williams. He has to have an Aortic Valve Replacement. Then I buy tickets to see the Who and one of them dies. I could go on and on, but it would start to get too depressing.

Robin is the Man

Bennie and I went to see Robin Williams in Concert and it was awesome. He was as funny as ever, but he was a little bit calmer than I have seen him in other concerts. He was hilarious, but completely controlled. He had topical humor, but certain points he wanted to make. Definitely worth it. If you get a chance, you definitely have to see him.

Reminder of Little Felicia

According to my mother, as soon as I learned to talk, I never stopped. I also like to be the center of attention, which is still true to this day. I am pretty sure I came by that honestly though. This clip from Family Guy which was on tonight totally reminded me of myself then and even now. I cannot stand it when someone ignores me. Also, when someone ignores their kid, it's like they are scraping a chalk board, even though the kid doesn't have a lot to say, just like Stewie or myself most of the time.

Anyway, enjoy.

Joachin Phoenix is becoming River

http://www.cbs.com/late_show/video/video.php?cid=446418043&pid=TOnYWLFIAq4k8vA0Me2lpEWu5ovWrJzB&play=true&cc=1

Joachin Phoenix is one of my favorite actors. He has gone completely over the deep end. I know he had a pretty serious drinking problem and went to rehab for it. But it's pretty clear he does more than that now. It's unfortunate since he is so talented and you would think he would no better since he watched his brother die of a drug overdose in LA.

What a Shame.

Some Things you just don't want to see

Last week, I unfortunately discovered that I did not have some cute squirrel living in my attic as the Shoops guys had told me. After they changed the trap, they caught, (puking a little now) a pretty large rat in my attic. Now for more bad news, if you have one rat, you have more than one. Since my dog doesn't go in the attic we put the trap back out and poison that is single acting. That means it only kills what eats it and doesn't hurt what eats the rat.

Well that came in useful today. A few days ago, I got up in the middle of the night to get something to drink and starting screaming because there was one in my kitchen scrambling to hide under my dishwasher. It had been eating my dog's food. I thought this had been happening so I was feeding her only a little at a time, but she didn't finish off her food.

Now to the big moment. Today. I open the door with full hands and the door opens all the way. Mindy's food is right behind the door and she usually greets me at the door unless she was sound asleep in bed. Today she was slow to meet me. I look down and see a tail under the door where her food is. I don't go in the house but kind try to peek my head in and here comes Mindy. Well the rat starts to run off to its hiding place but it happens that Mindy is right there and she bites the hell out of it and that thing squeels. Now Mindy wants it bad. Sorry but I'm not going in that house. Unfortunately we also had a bad storm rolling in also, but I decided I would rather ride it out in my car than go in the house. Luckily Bennie was on his way.

When Bennie got home, he saw where Mindy was alerting (behind the fridge) and he moved it so she could get back there. Sure enough, she caught it's and it went further back. To make a long story short, I had to turn off the electrity because this thing had made its hiding space in the fridge by the motor, but Mindy sniffed it out and "gulp" killed it. As I said at the top, not something I wanted to see my sweet dog doing, but it is bred into her (Dachshund).

Evidently President Obama is quite the Beyonce fan. I saw him demonstrating the hand movement in this video, but he commented he wouldn't dare put on a leotard like Justin Timberlake. Nice to know he keeps up with current television.

My Fave Must See

Ok, I don't dream of hitting small animals, but I must admit I laughed the hardest when the little Koala was punched. Unfortunately, some days I go to work and do all of these things, and some days I just do a couple of these things. Therefore, this commercial got my vote for best Super Bowl commercial.

I like wine, but....

I can never imagine having enough money to be able to say that I can bring myself to pay in the $100,000 range for a bottle of wine. Granted, I don't have a lot of money, but I felt guilty once for paying $100 for a bottle.
This book gives a peek into a world that I can never imagine. A world where people think nothing of dropping thousands for a bottle that they believe to belong to Thomas Jefferson. Key word, believe. I read the book in a weekend without wanting to read anything else about it. After reading, I read that movie rights have been bought and have seen the pictures of the players involved. They were almost as imagined. I can almost see Tom Hanks playing an investigator in the movie version, finding out the truth.
This book also educated me about wine as well.

Reading is Fundamental

I was in Hastings a few days ago looking for a Hard copy of a book that I purchased on my Amazon Kindle. Funny enough with this situation it is a diet book and I wanted to look at it on my Kindle before committing. Also, when I try a diet, I am always making copies out of the book to take everywhere with me anyway (grocery store, etc).

After looking at it, I decided I wanted the hard copy of the Ultimate Tea Diet. When I went to Hastings I couldn't find it and needed some help. We were looking for the book, and I told the guy, "this book seems to be eluding me today." He said "Wow, you must be a reader all right." I was dumbfounded. Is that really that big of a word?
Since using my Kindle I have been using better vocabulary. I can't always spell it, but I am working on that too. At work in the past, I would use "big" words and would be made fun of by fellow workers, "Hey lets get out the dictionary around her." In order to try to fit in, I just stopped using large words. Since some of it is coming back (if you don't use it, you lose it), I'm not going to be goaded into dropping it. They'll just have to crack open a dictionary.
Now if I'm speaking around some other people I know, I still don't sound very intelligent because they are writers, English majors, etc. I'm just a little Math major. But hey, at least I'm trying man!!

Got One Book Down Today with My Kindle

Thanks to My Beloved Kindle (love it, love it, love it), I am reading voraciously. It just seems like I am able to read easier because I can read anywhere, anytime, etc. Plus, my books are cheaper and I get them immediately. My books are not cumbersome and heavy. If I get tired of one book, I switch to a different book. Then when I am done with a book, I can save it to an SD card and save it that way. If I am reading a book and don't understand a word, I scroll to the word and hit look up and it looks it up (cool). I can highlight passages, bookmark, etc. I just plain love it. Oh did I already say that. :-)

So today, I finished off, "The Reader." It's pretty short. It has a lot of disturbing subjects in it, the Holocost, statutory rape of boy (he may be 15, but she was 38), and the after affects of that relationship on a boy. A lot people would say, "That's every boy's fantasy to have a relationship with an older woman when he is under 18", but I beg to differ and it will ultimately be a disaster and this book shows how in part III a little. Now that I am done reading the book, a lot of the it can be taken as allegory, for Nazis and the German people and their seduction by the Nazis and the after effects. That's a little deep for me, but I can see some of that when I think hard enough (some smoke comes out the ears, but I can do it)

As I read the book, I thought about two people I knew in high school. Unfortunately I am horrible with names, but one was a German exchange student who was in my math class and the other was my German teacher/math teacher one year in high school.

The German exchange student was amazed about the things she was learning about World War II history because she said that it was not taught at all in her country which I found shocking. This was in 1988. She said that World War II is just completely glossed over and not talked about in school. Now, remember this is before reunification started in 1989, so I don't know if that changed now.

The other was my German Teacher. He didn't mind talking about the war, but he wanted to talk about how the American's bombed his home town when he was a baby and that we committed war crimes and should have been brought to Nuremburg (sp) too. Now this is German class. I remember his yelling, "We didn't have any factories near my home town!" and one of my class mates yelled back, "How do you know if you were a baby?" As we all know, you can't believe everything that you are told from the authorities. This guy was just full of anger too, because I believe he got in trouble for hitting a student in math class. He said that is how things are done in Germany, but he was still reprimanded.

Snow (Ice) Day!

Well, No Work for me today. 'Round these parts, nobody knows how to drive with ice on the road, especially since we do not salt the roads. It is also illegal to have chains on your tires. Granted, this doesn't happen very much, so we usually just start late, but it is so bad today that they just shut down my workplace and said don't even come in. So I got a sort of Snow Day. If it was a real Snow Day, I'd go play in it, but I don't intend to play in ice.

My car doesn't drive well on ice (Camaro Z-28). One year I didn't get the word in time of a shut down and tried to drive in it. Not good.

Plan for today--Stay warm and read. Howwahh

Barack, Inc.

I just finished an awesome book, Barack, Inc by Barry Libert and Rick Faulk. It goes over President Obama campaign and looks at it from a business perspective. The book points out how in the 21st century, Candidate Obama was doing everything right to make it to the White House and if he had been in a fortune 500 Business, they definitely wouldn't be needing a bailout right now.

Since I have recently come off of being in a position of authority, I can understand these kind of books a lot better and certainly enjoy them. My boyfriend has his own business and I have read quite a few things in this book that can be essential to help him that he can use.

So if you interested in business, read this book which emphasizes three things that Candidate Obama did to become President Obama:

  • Be Cool.

  • Be Social.

  • Be the Change.

The authors also have a website.

So be cool.

Tomorrow is the Big Day

I am very Excited. Tomorrow is an exciting day for me and millions of others. I know there are people that are not happy and wouldn't admit it and that's OK; it doesn't matter to me. I am so happy that Barack Obama is going to be Our President, and even though he can't possibly accomplish every single campaign promise, if he gets 10% of it done and doesn't make any steps in what I would consider the wrong direction (one only needs to look at the last eight years to know what that is), then I will be happy. I think he can do that.

Just by getting through his inauguration tomorrow and making it through his speech, he would be making Dr. King's "Dream" come true, and that is quite an accomplishment, but We still have a long way to go.

Third time's a charm

The Shoops people came back out again and replaced the trap with one that is little more easily set off. My Squirrel is really liven it up in the attic. I believe he is going into the trap and eating the stuff and the trap isn't going off. Now the trap has peanut M & M s in it (yummy). I told these people how annoyed that I am that guy is still in my attic.

Just eat a dang banana!

As an instructor to airmen, these young people are not generally full fledged adults, no matter how much they would like to think so. It's very difficult for them because they believe they are completely mature, as I did at their age (if only I knew the truth), but Thursday was a good example of why we need us instructors around to watch out for these young people.

I am responsible for keeping my students awake, so I told him to wake up. When he did, i noticed he poured a pouch of powder into some water and slammed it down. I asked him what the heck it was. He showed me the box. It was a product called "Power Edge" Energy Drink Mix. It sounds ok on the front because it is suger free, but then on the back it says 80 mg of caffeine per serving and serving is 1/2 of a packet. I asked my student if that was the first one he had that day. It was the fourth. Holy crap.

Essentially he was having 640 mg of caffeine before 9 am. Scared the crap out of me, but it didn't really get through to him until I showed him on two websites where it said that a normal days max caffeine is 300mg and the Power Edge is equivalent to 2 Red Bulls.

Supposedly my student has promised me that he isn't going to pull this again, so one can only hope because he was shaking the rest of the day, and some the next day. I wanted to send him to the hospital, but he didn't want to go, and you can't force a student to go.

"Your Mother was a Hamster and Your Father smelled of Elderberries..."

My brother, Amy, Logan and Oliver gave me Monty Python's Holy Trinity. It contains MP and the Holy Grail (Favorite), the Life of Brian and the Meaning of Life. I watched the Holy Grail first. They added some extra thing to the movie which is fine, but I can still recite almost every line. My favorite part has to be the French Taunting. My boyfriend Bennie (who is not a huge britcom fan) even likes that part. I think it is because he is Cajun. The insults are hilarious. In the Broadway play Spamalot, they made the French Taunting even more hilarious if that is possible.

Ninja Squirrel Redux

The Shoops people came back and put a new cookie in the trap and left it in the wrapper. The man said that the squirrel must have gotten to the other cookie from the side. I didn't understand what he meant until today. I checked the trap, and the wrapper was on one side of the cage and half of the cookie was on the other side. Therefore, this little guy takes his paws from the outside of the cage, gets the cookie, gets a couple nibbles, turns, more nibbles, turns, until the cookies is gone. Hummmmm. Scary Smart. I think he has been trapped before in a cage.

Now that he doesn't have a way in and out of the house, he gets very frustrated about water. Now I am his only resource for it. So when he hears me take a bath (get ready) he shimmys down the pipes and waits for me to drain the tub. (OOOOOOOO) Believe me I don't look down that drain, I don't want to see. Anyway, he starts to get impatient sometimes and bangs on the bathtub wall, so I bang back. One day I hope to knock him silly for putting me through all this.

Well, Bennie is coming back tomorrow, and next week is his turn to deal with the Shoops people about our "little friend."

Sometimes I yell at the squirrel, "get in the trap and we'll let you go jerk." I'm losing it, I know.

I have a Ninja Sqirrel

I checked the squirrel trap today as usual in my attic. The bait cookie was gone, but no squirrel. I called Shoops and they said sometimes they will find a way to get it out from the side without setting off the trap. The guy that put a new cookie said he opened up the package, but left it in the package so that the squirrel will have to get into the trap this time and hopefully set it off unless his ninja skills are incredible.

We shall see what happens. Wish me luck.

Don't Forget the Black Eyed Peas!

New Years Day 2009. Woo hoo.

Didn't get much done today, but I made sure that ONE THING GOT DONE....I ATE BLACK EYED PEAS!

Last year, I did not follow this southern superstition. (One is supposed to eat black eyed peas on New Years Day for good luck . I have even heard that it is more specifficaly for good luck with money, but I just always heard the good luck think.)
I also was trying to fight my natural Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and force myself not to take part in this tradition (superstition, call it what you like). Wrong, big mistake. I won't be doing that again.

2008 was for me full of highest highs, followed by the lowest lows. Now, do I blame it all on my lack of consumption of black eyed peas on January 1, 2008. It would be easy to say, "YES" and sum it up like that. But I won't take any chances in the future that is for damn sure unless I am stranded somewhere on an island. In that case I probably wouldn't even know it is the New Year and it won't matter!
