Exciting New Year Celebration

I guess as I have gotten older, my New Years Celebrations have gotten dull.

Of Course living in Wichita Smalls doesn't help, but I stayed at home with my trusty companion, Mindy, my dog.

My dream is to one day bring the New Year in in Time Square. I know that sounds crazy, but I have watched it all but one year (when I celebrated the true millennium in New Orleans in 2001).

This year I woke my dog up to bring in the new year with me.

Wow what a way to bring in 2009. Hopefully the year will gradually get better. I am not making ANY New Year's resolutions this year, so I won't have that guilt later.

Anyway, I hope everyone else had a good time.

AB FAB and Pre New Year's Eve

While on a visit to Austin, I bought the DVDs of series 5 and what is called "White Box" which includesmone episode on DVD and other specials about the Absolutely Fabulous series from BBC.

I am a HUGE fan of AB FAB Series 1-3.

I enjoyed Series 4, as well, but it wasn't as great.

I have heard people say for a long time that the final season was horrible. I watched it all the way through while house cleaning today.

I have to say Series 5 was ok, but it lacked a lot that the first series had, but to say it was horrible, I don't know. They tried to put an internationally known star (i.e. Emma Bunton, Mini Driver, Elton John, etc.) in every episode because I think they were going to try to sell it to a wider audience. The part that got me is that the character's personalities essentially changed.

The disk entitled White Box had one episode with the same name. I have to say that this episode probably wasn't supposed to be included in any compilation because it is indeed crap. It looks to be the last episode except for a Comic Relief Episode (which I haven't seen). Everyone was very out of character and the mother did something at the end that I don't think she would EVER DO IN A MILLION YEARS. All through the series Edina would yell at her daughter and maybe emotionally screw up her daughter, but she didn't hit her kid. At the end, they had Edina hit her GRANDDAUGHTER. NO. NO. She might yell at her granddaughter to shut her up (which I don't like) , but never hit her. So I think that is why this episode was looked at and Jennifer Saunders (who plays Edina and writes all the series episodes) said Nahh not her.

So to go back to their roots, I uploaded some AB FAB to my You Tube that is from the NEW YEARS EVE episode. Edina is complaining because the world is not revolving around her at that moment and Patsy's sister has shown up. The usual insults flow to Edina's daughter as usual.

And it wasn't protected by a silver spoon.

Note: this is not my actual squirrel, but if mine was this cute, I would probably keep it.

Yes, I do indeed have a squirrel in the attic. Shoop's Pest Control came out and looked around and we noticed that the thing wanted to get out of the attic so he had been chewing a hole through the dry wall, which would have allowed him access to the house and Mindy (my dog) would have a field day.

After this was noticed by the attic door (the hole is all the way to the left of the door), the Shoops guy went in the attic and said I definately had a squirrel and not a rat (sigh of relief).

He went outside to look for where the squirrel came in and finally found the problem. It turns out the little guys can come in through your turbines on the roof! If the people that installed your turbine didn't install a screen as well, then when the turbine stops turning, Waa Laa.

Ok here is my rant for the day, I did suggest that to my boyfriend as a possibility, but was told that "Naw that can't be it." Hah!

Anyway, a screen is now installed, the hole in the wall now has steel wool and a non-lethal trap is in the attic.

The Shoops guy put a tasty cookie in there and set the trap. I'm supposed to go up there once a day to check it. He told me it might take a few days. I did make it clear that I didn't want it killed and he said they don't do that unless it's sick or something. I'll keep anyone that cares updated on the my misadventures. Fun Stuff.

There are THREE of Us in this House.........and ONE of us WILL GO

For about a month now, I have been putting up with a little visitor (and I don't mean that in a female sense).

Right now, there are only supposed to be two of us living in this house, Me and my dog Mindy.

Unfortunately, for about a month, something has taken up residense in the attic and crawls around in the walls and it's not my boyfriend. I can hear it (and it sounds large to me) crawling on the pipes like it is on a playground. Then it crawls on the beams in the attic and I can hear its feet.

I complained to my boyfriend about it, and he brought out poison. To be honest, I told him I didn't like that idea because it would die and then just start stinking in the wall. I didn't let him put out the poison, but after he came by I went one day without hearing it and Bennie (my "boyfriend") assumed it was gone. Of course it wasn't gone, but I decided not to bother him again.

I have been off a few days and this thing is very active and I can't take it anymore. Now I am getting Shoops Extermining out and they will set up a trap, plug the holes it came in from. This is going to sound bad, but if it is a squirrel, I don't want them to kill it, but if it is a rat, by all means kill it. I guess I shouldn't want them to kill any of the animals, but I have no sympathy for rats.

First Rant into the Mist

Hopefully I will not always "Rant" on my blog, but I have been told that I do that a lot, so when I was trying to think of a name for this blog, that is what first came to mind.

I hope to

• Keep people abreast of what is going on with me


• Keep people abreast of what is going on with my parents, nephews and their parents, my "step-children" and their kids, etc


• My rants will be included so I don't explode


• And other stuff
